SS Robin launches online
Discover how Curio Media helped restore the digital fortunes of steamship SS Robin.
The brief
SS Robin is the world’s oldest complete steamship and the UK’s most important London-built vessel. Built in 1890, she has been the cornerstone in one of the most remarkable restoration projects in history. Not bad going for a ship destined for the scrapheap a decade ago. Her survival is largely due to the work of the SS Robin Trust. When project managers Nish and David Kampfner called up Curio Media to help restore their online presence, we went full steam ahead on one of our most successful campaigns to date.
What we did
To raise awareness to the ship’s last phase of her restoration project, the SS Robin Trust wanted to create as much online ‘noise’ as possible. The Trust wanted to retain its large following while attracting a new generation of SS Robin fans. First we set out to create a spin-off consultancy website for the project management team, then created a specialist maritime heritage news blog for SS Robin. Blogs are excellent platforms to publish daily news and get a large amount of traffic along the way. Fresh content served daily and rich in keywords is also a great way to have positive impact on the Google search engine. So every day our Content Team sourced newsworthy stories, wrote and uploaded to the Blog.
The results
In just six weeks Curio Media showed, beyond launching a digital presence, that we could tackle the issue of user engagement and take it to a new level of success. By knowing how to produce quality content and network it, we transformed the SS Robin team into a credible global news source for their sector. The traffic figures at the end of the first month were pretty incredible too.
